Ashley + Matt: Wedding at Fort Whyte, Winnipeg

Ashley and Matt got married at Fort Whyte – a beautiful marsh on the outskirts of Winnipeg – surrounded by close friends and family. It was a gorgeous setting, a beautiful hot summer day and I saw nothing but smiles and good moods all day long from everyone! We started the photos at Freshair Boutique where the girls were already having too much fun… meanwhile my second photographer Duncan was over at the guys’ house taking photos of the guys getting ready but also playing a game of giant jenga (why not?). We then met up at the gorgeous River Gate Inn on the Assiniboine River where we took more photos of the girls getting ready, followed by a first look with Ashley and Matt. The day continued on with more photos in the Exchange District and then off to Fort Whyte for family photos and their beautiful wedding ceremony by the water. The setting couldn’t be better (except for the aggressive mosquitoes!!) and everything came together so perfectly for their wedding day!

The highlight was seeing their adorable little daughter being a part of the wedding ceremony – there were a few planned parts, but lots of impromptu parts – such as her being held by her grandfather (also the officiator) as she held the microphone for her parents who were exchanging personal vows with each other. A-DO-RA-BLE! Melted my heart.

These guys and their wedding party definitely know how to have fun, enjoy every moment and appreciate the good things in life. It was a huge honour being able to photograph their wedding day after having done so many other great shoots for them in the past. Ashley and Matt are made for each other – and no, I’m not just being clichĂ© – it really is true. I can’t imagine one without the other, and seeing their daughter Isla with them just completes the package to a tee. I couldn’t be happier for them and I certainly look forward to many more photo shoots with them in the future. Congratulations you two!!

PS: doesn’t Matt remind you of Tom Cruise?? Look-alike, I think!

Erin + Patrick: Engagement Photos at the Beach

I already wrote about this photo session for the sneak peek blog post here, so today, as I post the rest of the photos from this beautiful engagement session, I don’t have much more to add other than this: Manitoba has some spectacular outdoor locations and when you get the perfect mix of summer sun, fresh love and a super-cute couple who are head over heels for each other, there’s not much more that a photographer can ask for!

Erin and Patrick have found each other, and it takes only one look at them to see how crazy in love they are. I’m over the moon happy for them and consider it a huge honour to be able to photograph their journey to marriage. We started with a “Save the Date” photo shoot in April, made wedding invitations out of those photos, and now these engagement photos will be a part of their guestbook album which I’ll be designing for them later this month. So much love I can hardly handle it!! I love these two!!!

Jenelle + Joel: Engagement Photos in the Rain

Jenelle and Joel aren’t just a super adorable couple, they’re also real troopers and super adventurous! That’s a great combo for me, especially since they were totally up for shooting their engagement photos in the rain. Usually engagement sessions are postponed if rain is forecasted, but these guys insisted the shoot go on no matter what! The rain did hold off for the first half of their session, but by the end, we got rained on and it was absolutely beautiful. Not only that, but the mosquitoes were out in full force and Jenelle and Joel kept smiling and laughing through it all!

We started the session in downtown Winnipeg then finished off at a lovely park in the heart of St. Boniface. The photos turned out gorgeous and I’m lucky to have them as clients. Their wedding is coming up soon and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for their big day! All I know is that it’s going to be gorgeous, fun and super romantic. These two were made for each other. đŸ™‚

Andrea + Rheal: Winnipeg Wedding Photography

June came and so did the warm Winnipeg weather and the big dynamic summer skies – perfectly in time for Andrea & Rheal’s gorgeous wedding! Last time we did photos together was half a year ago in the cold (yet beautiful) snow, and now the time had finally come to tie the knot. I was so excited for them, but I think Rheal’s excitement topped everyone’s by a long shot! When he first arrived in preparation for the first look photos, he could not stop smiling and bouncing around – happiest groom in the world! And I don’t blame him – Andrea showed up and she was even more radiant than ever – an absolute stunner. Loved it!

The rest of the day was filled with lots of fun photos, gorgeous locations and a beautiful ceremony out in Springtein, Manitoba. Right after the ceremony, we had the chance to take some “just married” portraits along some train tracks with a dramatic blue prairie sky in the background. It was a perfect backdrop for the new joy they were basking in.

The evening reception was at Andrea’s parents’ farm yard. So much hard work and hand-made items had been put into it and it certainly paid off. Congratulations Andrea & Rheal! It was an absolute pleasure being a part of your beautiful wedding day! The love you share runs deep and is an inspiration to see. Thank you for sharing a piece of your story with me. đŸ™‚
