If I can sum up this wedding day in one word, it would be FUN. I had such a great time with Valérie and Mario! Not only was it an all-French wedding (so glad to be part of it as a francophone photographer!), but it also incorporated a lot of different French-Canadians from all across the country: Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Québec! (not surprising when you have a fransaskois groom and a franco-manitobaine bride who both live in Ottawa. Now’s there’s a wide mix!) We had a blast, and I think that has to do with Valérie’s infectious smile and laugh and Mario’s easy-going and care-free demeanor. This couple knew how to have fun, enjoy their day and celebrate their union of love with all their friends and family. It was an honour to witness their marriage to each other and the celebrations that surrounded them. They even got me teary-eyed at the ceremony when Mario sang a song he wrote for Valérie! It reminded me of my own wedding and it certainly hit home: this love’s real. And it moved everyone who was present. As cliché as this is, I have to say what I kept hearing everyone else say too: they might just be the perfect couple!

The wedding party got ready at the Fairmont in downtown Winnipeg, and then headed off to Lorette’s beautiful church for their ceremony, and then on to Fort Gibraltar for family photos and then the Millennium centre for more photos and a super fun stand up reception. This was my second stand up reception of the 2011 wedding season, and I’m really starting to like this concept. There are so many more photos I’d like to blog, but there’s no room for that! So here’s a highlight, and if you want to see more photos, head over to my facebook page.

Félicitation Valérie et Mario! J’ai hâte de vous revoir dans quelques semaines!
