Earlier this spring I had the pleasure of taking headshots for staff of the RETSD at various schools. It was a delightful on-location project – I got to visit so many of their schools, entering into spaces that always felt so cheerful and welcoming. There was a true sense of community in this school division and that was something that I felt from all the staff I met.
I know that for a lot of people being in front of lights and a big camera can feel daunting, but I always welcome the opportunity to make people feel comfortable and pleasantly surprised at how easy a headshot shoot can be. Connection and familiarity is everything, but also guiding people into looking relaxed and approachable is the key to making a good portrait. And a few good studio lights, a good lens and a good editing software also helps. 😉
