Danielle & Joël – a long time love story in photos…

It’s that time of year again – when people are buying photo gift certificates as Christmas gifts, or as in this case, redeeming a gift certificate they got for Christmas last year. I love being someone’s Christmas gift! 🙂 But what I love even more is the many times I’ve had the pleasure of taking photos for Danielle and Joël. They were the first of my engagement couples (way back when, before I had even gone to photography school or started my business), and then went on to be one of my first wedding clients in my first summer of shooting weddings, followed a year later by an adorable newborn shoot when their son was born….daniellejoel And then most recently, some family photos! It’s been an amazing journey following this great couple and now, their newborn is already 14 months old (wow, time flies!). Definitely a cutie… especially in his oversized parka! A totally lovable little dude! We took a few photos inside their house and then went wandering around outside. Théo LOVES being outside, which made it all the more fun to catch him in his little explorations and adventures. Here are a few highlights from our October morning shoot and outdoor stroll…. 101029GT0029 101029GT9835 101029GT9849 101029GT9925 101029GT9871 101029GT9837 %image_alt% 101029GT0211 101029GT9938 101029GT9949 101029GT0144 101029GT0131 %image_alt% 101029GT0114 101029GT0126 101029GT0103 101029GT0082 101029GT0058 101029GT0015

November is here and although the year’s not over yet (snow hasn’t even arrived yet!), I’m already reflecting back on what a great year 2010 has been and looking forward to what’s in store for 2011.

First off I want to thank everyone who has supported me in my photography endeavours, allowing me to make my passion for photography a full-time reality for the third year in a row. I couldn’t do it without all my wonderful clients, friends, family, students and distant admirers. (yes, even those of you who stalk my blog from a distance!)

Wedding season 2010 is almost over, and I’m already looking forward to my 2011 weddings! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some awesome couples in the past few months to discuss their plans for their upcoming weddings, and I’m getting more and more excited about starting wedding season again! Weekends are booking fast in 2011, but do not fret: I still have some Friday & Saturday openings.

The year is coming to a close, but I have a few updates and announcements to make for 2011. First of all, a CONTEST. I’m giving away a free photo session! ….and I’m even including the full-res images on disc. Details to come soon… you won’t want to miss it!

And of course, Christmas is just around the corner, so keep in mind that I still offer photo gift certificates for the people on your lists that are impossible to shop for. Yes – a photo shoot – it’s a unique gift idea! Not only that, but I’m offering a discount portrait package for all gift certificates ordered by November 30th. $150 will get you a 1-hour shoot and a basic print package (two 8×10 & five 5×7 prints). With no expiry date, you could order a gift certificate for yourself, and save it for a warm summer day next year! ….e-mail orders to photo@egabrielle.com

I’m also excited to announce a couple upcoming photographic art exhibits that I’m putting on in 2011. The first is a solo exhibit at the Collège Universitaire de St-Boniface for the month of March. I’ll have about a dozen framed photos on display. Can’t wait! My next exhibit will be a group show with my art collective, f/action. We’ll have a large photo exhibit adorning the gallery walls of the Cre8ery. Opening reception will be in early April. I’ll keep you posted and send you an invitation!

I hope you guys are all enjoying a wonderful fall season – don’t forget to take in the beautiful sun before the days get too short!

Cheers,

-Gabrielle

Engagement Photos: Megan and Jeremy

Last weekend I went out for a fun fall engagement photo session with Megan & Jeremy – and they were prepared with ideas! Not only did we have an awesome first location (heritage building & courtyard!), but we also took a few shots with their adorable dog Flint and then took the bikes out to Whittier Park to get some action shots (a passion for biking that they both share). I love it when engagement shoots become more personable and reflects something unique about the relationship.

I first met Megan and Jeremy earlier this year when I went to the Dominican Republic to photograph Jeremy’s brother’s wedding. So when I found out they recently got engaged (in one of the most romantic Canadian cities I know: Montreal!) I was super excited for them – and even MORE excited when they asked me to be their wedding photographer. I had a great time connecting with them in the Dominican, and now I’m looking all the more forward to capturing their special day next year. Just a few short months away!

Congratulations you two – you guys are glowing with love! (aaaw, cheesy) 🙂

Family Photography in the Woods

I met up with the Evans family a few weeks ago and we had a fun time running around in the woods, following their two young active boys exploring, finding sticks and collecting colourful leaves. (and yes, even a few leaves were eaten!) It was a gorgeous late afternoon at the right time of year when the leaves are at just the right colour change. Autumn in Winnipeg doesn’t get any better than this! Kids with this much energy definitely keep me on my toes – sometimes it makes me feel like a kid myself as I’m chasing them around! (I love my job) We got a few cute shots and some pretty funny expressions. All in all, the kids had fun, and it was awesome to see the parents right in there, exploring and running around in the woods with them. Here are some highlights from our day at the park!
