Congratulations to Kyla & Darrin – they got married today and we got tons of photos! (from tons of locations!) We were rushing a bit, but we got all our locations in… which is awesome. I’m still haven’t gone through all my photos yet, so the sneak peek comes from a few photos at the start of our afternoon together. I love this first one: their facial expressions tell you EXACTLY how they felt on their wedding day: happy. Woot!

I spent the day at the lake yesterday surrounded by lots of family… including these two beautiful ladies: my cousin Julie and my cousin (is it once removed?) Hannah. I remember when she was just a baby, so seeing her all grown up makes me feel old! She’s a great kid and so adorable – and lucky me – loves the camera too! If you follow my blog, you know how I loooove evening light. (as photographers, who doesn’t??) And taking pictures on a Manitoba beach is even better – Albert Beach that is, my favourite place on earth. Here are a few portraits of the girls, just for fun. 🙂 Love you guys!

Julie & Sean’s wedding at Bergmann’s was definitely a photography highlight for me this summer – these guys know how to throw a great party with great style! As a guest, this is definitely the type of wedding you’d love to attend. We started the evening with a quick half-hour couple portrait session on the streets outside Bergmann’s, followed by family formals. We then headed straight into the evening wedding reception. It was a casual stand-up reception, all while keeping it classy and fun. Half-way through the evening Julie and Sean got married in a romantically-lit room off to the side in front of all their friends and family, followed by some dancing and partying. I was particularly thrilled to hear that DJ Mama Cutsworth was going to be there. So fun! She played some Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Bobby Darrin, and what I thought was the best wedding first dance song ever: Slow Show by the National (I love that band!). Oh, and did I mention the DRESS?! I’m a big fan of short wedding dresses, and I was pretty excited to see Julie in hers. It looked amazing on her! All in all, everything totally reflected them as a couple and it made for a perfect Friday night wedding celebration! There were a lot of awesome people behind the whole event, some of which I thought were worth mentioning: Venue: Bergmann’s on Lombard DJ: Mama Cuttsworth Bride’s skirt and top: Jason Wu, Belt: Oscar de la Renta Shoes: Jimmy Choo Hair: Kitty, Berns and Black Make up: Joanne, Edward Carriere Groom’s suit: Harry Rosen, Shoes: Ferragamo Wedding planners and decor: Soirée Event Planning Wedding Commissioner: Patricia Simko Flowers: McDiarmid Flowers Congratulations Julie and Sean! I had a lot of fun with you guys and I’m so glad to have been a part of it. All the best to you in the many years to come!

Just over a week ago I had the privilege of photographing Laura and Chris wedding at St. Charles Country Club – a piece of paradise in the middle of our city of Winnipeg. Beautiful! And what a perfect backdrop for this stunning couple. Simple elegance, gorgeous details and a breathtaking wedding event: this was a wedding I thoroughly enjoyed shooting! For starters, take a look at Laura. Her presence made the room glow. She was so genuine and had an incredibly beautiful personality – it was such a joy being around her! After a few photos with the girls, the guys arrived at St. Charles and I had a ton of fun taking photos of them, including a human pyramid. Yes, my first human pyramid ever, at a wedding! You can tell that Chris is an amazing guy just by looking at his groomsmen – they were all having fun, in such a great mood and up for anything! Totally celebrating and supporting him on his special day with Laura.
You probably know this, but as fun as the wedding party was, my favourite moments are the alone time I take with the couple to get super gorgeous and romantic photos. Laura and Chris were great – they provided me with the best love chemistry ever! Every time I look at their photos I immediately remember the love and ease they had between each other. A strong bond and an enduring love. I love it when I see that!
Congratulations you two – not only were you a ton of fun to be with, but you also allowed me to create timeless images of your memorable day. Thank you!! Wishing you all the best as you continue on your journey of love, friendship and laughter!
PS: scroll down to the very bottom… a very highly-anticipated wedding cake was revealed… I bet you’ve never seen anything like this before!

Most unusual wedding cake ever… the football-crashed wedding cake! Yes, you heard me right. Check it out – all real cake material, that is NOT a real football. Made by the obviously super talented Nina from the Cake Studio. The idea was a collaboration between Laura and Chris, who really wanted to incorporate football into their wedding theme. What a creative way of doing that, I say!
