The first weeks of having a newborn can feel like an overwhelming blur – from an abundance of fatigue, but also from an overflowing sense of love. When I come to your home, my sole focus is to capture the beauty of that new relationship, and making sure to create images that honour the best of this dizzying, exciting and exhausting time.
When I walked into their home I instantly felt the warmth and sheer joy of two parents completely over the moon with love for their new baby. I swaddled Johnny for a few posed photos in a basket, but the majority of the time was him in his mom and dad’s arms. He even gave us a few sleep smiles!
Here are some highlights from our two hours together.
If you’re thinking of booking an at-home session for your newborn photos, contact me a few months early to allow space in my schedule and then once baby is born, send me a message and we’ll set a date and time for the photo session.
Having a baby and raising small kids during a pandemic is no small feat. Seeing moms get through these incredibly hard but rich experiences is so beautiful and powerful to see. The love that is shared, the connections that are made – all in the context of a growing family – is so wonderful to witness. The days of having a newborn bring so many indescribable feelings, so to be able to honour it through photography is something I adore so much.
And how cute is Alessia?! 10 days old and so showered with a depth of love that goes beyond words. I had so much fun at the studio capturing these dear moments and to see the two older siblings show so much affection for their new little sister. Here is a preview of our time together!
Melissa and Steve have been friends of mine for several years and our photo journey starts many years ago when they got married far far away on a tropical island in the middle of a cold, Winnipeg winter! It was a delight taking their wedding photos and it continues to be a huge pleasure taking photos as their beautiful family grows. Recently they welcomed a baby boy and it was so fun meeting up with them to capture these memories and this exciting moment in their family’s life. Lifestyle newborn photography is one of my favourite types of portrait photography and it’s always a little extra better when it’s for good friends. Félicitations Melissa et Steve!
Shawna and Brad just added a third little kiddo to their family and I was invited into their home to capture all the candid moments that make up their busy yet beautiful and fun life as a family of 5. The two older sisters are excited to have a baby brother, but they were also just as excited to jump on their parents’ bed for a few photos. These guys are absolutely adorable and it’s always such a pleasure taking photos for them!
