My favourite way to photograph children is when it’s natural, candid and not posed – which often brings me to the park. Kids love to run around and to just be kids! So what better way than having them unaware of the camera and having fun. I had just as much fun running around the playground myself, snapping shots as Avari and Judah were busy exploring, climbing, sliding and swinging. Cute kids! Photography at its most natural: catching those spur of the moment shots is what makes it so special. 🙂

Oh yes – Colleen and Justin – what a fun day! A 12-person wedding party usually means that it’ll be a lively and fun day — and this was true with these guys. Always laughing and joking around, this couple had one fun bunch of friends & siblings! The picture taking went by fast as there was always something crazy or outrageous going on (never a dull moment, especially with the guys!), and then the few moments I did have alone with the couple were just as moving and beautiful (if not more!) as their engagement session was a few months earlier. Even the speeches and dancing were fun! Terrace 55 did a wonderful job and I was happy to be back there again to shoot another wedding so soon. I had so many pictures I wanted to blog… but I managed to pare it down to these ones. Congratulations Colleen & Justin – Duncan and I certainly had fun shooting your wedding! What a beautiful and memorable day. All the best in your new life together. 🙂

I had been looking forward to this wedding for some time, knowing that it would be set outdoors at the beautiful riverside grounds of the Gates with a couple whose style and passion I admired. They really wanted the true, natural essence of their day to come through with candid, sincere photos, and I too wanted nothing more than that. From the first time we met, I knew I absolutely wanted to work with them, and I’m sure glad they felt the same way too!
It was a gorgeous day (pretty hot though, although I’ll take the heat over a rained out day!), and I had my talented second photographer working with me, as usual. Thanks to Duncan McNairnay for doing a great job at capturing those great in-between moments and fly-on-the-wall shots. I’ve included a few of his shots below, as well as some of the highlights from my time with Tannis and Paul. Enjoy!
