Melissa + Trent: Engagement Photos

I met up with Melissa & Trent on a beautiful summer evening at King’s Park for their engagement photo session. I love King’s Park because of its vastness – when you’re there, it’s never just for a quick little stroll. The best parts of the park are in the back, which means you get a long, leisurely walk down the paths, over the bridges and through the fields. We did just that and I had an absolutely lovely time with these two. They are sweet, playful and wholely into each other and it definitely showed. Here are a few photos from our walk through the park! Congratulations you two – all the best as you whisk away to the tropics for your wedding this winter!

Cousins at St. Vital Park

Seeing small families getting larger with the addition of cute little kids just makes me smile. Seeing my own kids with their cousins just reminds me of how great it is when a family expands and kids are added to the mix. Cousins can be your best buds, and it was evident that these guys are just that to each other! This family was so sweet and my time with them at St. Vital Park was such a delight. We braved the crazy mosquitoes, but fortunately we all survived and these gems came of the photo session. Thanks guys for all the smiles, laughs and fun!

Hey Jude!

This kiddo recently celebrated 1 year on this earth (what a milestone!) and what perfect way to celebrate than with photos of a stroll through his favourite dog park with his dog Seymour. It was great exploring the back woods of this dog park – one that I wasn’t familiar with but super happy to discover! Sean & Natasha have the cutest little guy and I couldn’t be happier for them and their new little family. Jude’s such a happy kid and that adorable face of his just melts my heart. Happy birthday buddy!

Product Photography for Winnipeg’s MÛR shop

I aboslutely love when someone has a passion for a certain aesthetic, sees a need for specific products and finds a solution to make them available not only for themselves, but for their friends and community who also share this same passion. Danielle Cyr did just that and born from that passion is her newest business venture: MÛR Lifestyle. Their online store is described with this succinct phrase: “Shop of handmade curiosities for inspired living.”

This shop has beautiful items that have been hand-picked and curated by Danielle to form a cohesive and inpsired collection of goods available for purchase online (or locally in Winnipeg). I admire Danielle’s creativity and ambition in starting up this shop, so it goes without saying that I was really excited to do some product shots for her online store. With the help of her family, we put together the items in studio and spent an afternoon taking photos of it all. It’s always fun & inspiring working alongside Danielle and I couldn’t be happier for her and her newest venture.

Now that I’ve got you curious, you can visit her online store here and visit her facebook page here.

She has many new items coming in and the shop always has something interesting to look at! Happy shopping everyone!

Maternity Photos at St. Vital Park, Winnipeg

One of the very first weddings I photographed professionally was Lizanne & Raymond’s several years ago. It’s such a long time ago, that I can’t even dig up their blog post! (I’m not even sure it exists!) So when I heard from Lizanne that they were expecting their first baby, I was super excited to get another opportunity to take photos for them. It’s been a long time but seeing them still just as madly in love with each other brought me right back to their wedding day. This time though, there was an extra dose of excitement. Nothing prepares you for the journey of having a baby, except actually walking through it, so it’s such a special opportunity to photograph the parents in the last few days of coupledom before baby arrives. These two were absolutely glowing! We started the session indoors as the rain fell outside, but soon enough, the rain stopped, the skies parted and we got these glorious photos at St. Vital Park. Congratulations you two!!

Bergen Multi Family Photos at the University of Manitoba

Any family with 4 kids seems pretty big considering today’s norms, but imagine those 4 kids being all girls — and then those girls growing up and adding 6 more girls to the family! Meet the Bergens – a super fun bunch, and always a great time to photograph! But it’s not all girls – there is one grandson that made it into the mix, and together these kids make their grandparents’ hearts full. They were absolutely adorable and made great subjects for my camera. We had a lovely time at the University of Manitoba – the rain spared us and we got some great shots with a mix of architecture and nature. We even had time for some cute dandelion pickings! Thank you to all of you for making this such a fun photos session!

Seth | 6-month-old baby photos

Back in May I got to spend a super fun hour with this delightful family! Six month old babies are just the cutest ever, and Seth definitely showed off all of his irresistable traits! He was so easy going, so playful and never short on smiles. His parents were just as lovely and together they made such a great trio. Not only were they super awesome to photograph, but they also were so fun to hang out with! I absolutely loved this session with them and I’m so happy we were able to create so many fantastic shots together. Here’s a handful of the photos we got in studio!

Rusty is 2 years old!

My sister-in-law & brother-in-law asked me earlier this Spring if I could take photos of their son to mark his 2nd birthday, and of course I said YES (enthusiastically). It’s always such a treat to see my cute little nephew, and taking his photos was sure going to be a good time! And that it was! We kept it simple and I followed him around his house for some casual portraits at home. Nothing over-produced or elaborate – just hanging out with this awesome kid. He has such a delightful personality and a sweetness to him – no wonder all of it came through so easily in these photos. Love you Rusty!

Stroich Family: Winnipeg Portrait Photography

This family of four was truly a delight to photograph – the kids were so much fun to be with and together with their parents, the bond they all shared was super precious to watch. I had such a pleasant time with them and it was such a hoot getting all these fun shots together! There’s no question these two siblings have tremendous love for each other and it’s evident that their parents are true models for that. They were so adorable together and I sure hope we get to do this again soon! Here are some of the photos we took back in April (when it was still so frigid outside).

Solange + JD: Wedding Photography in Winnipeg

I met Solange and JD late last year and as soon as we started chatting over coffee, I knew these two were going to be great fun to spend the day with. I’m so glad they felt the same way, and the results were just as I expected: lots of fun, lots of laughter and of course, the great celebration of a love that runs deep, strong and irreplaceable. Although the wedding photography was short (3 hours) it certainly was sweet! We wasted no time running around St. Boniface covering some of the quartier’s best historic spots: the St. Boniface Cathedral for their beautiful ceremony followed by the historic city hall for photos at la maison des artistes and more photos at the St. Boniface museum (which also happens to be the oldest building in Winnipeg – wow!). What better way to mark and celebrate the union of these two than with photos around all these great locations in the heart of Winnipeg’s francophone community.

And these two are certainly well surrounded by a wonderful community of friends and family, which is no surprise as they are such a delight to be with. It’s been an honour getting to know Solange and JD and I’m happy to see their love now captured in photos that’ll last a lifetime. Félicitations vous deux, c’était un vrai plaisir!

Lindsay + Carter: Wedding Photography in Winnipeg

Lindsay and Carter were married at the very end of March, and although we had already welcomed Spring on our calendars, it was very much still winter here in Winnipeg. It certainly didn’t have much effect on the wedding because Lindsay and Carter had chosen one of the warmest, lushest green spaces in Winnipeg: the Assiniboine Park Conservatory. What a gorgeous wedding venue! The ceremony was held in the middle of a beautiful tulip garden and it was absolutely beautiful. We also got some great photos at their hotel, at Red River College, at the Hydro Building and also inside the conservatory. We did take a few quick photos outside and Lindsay and Carter were troopers braving that nasty cold wind!

It was great seeing Lindsay and Carter again. My first photo session with them was last August in the middle of a scorching heat wave for their engagement photos, so it was quite the contrast this time around in March. But the chemistry and dynamics were the same: Linsday and Carter are absolute sweethearts. They’re a joy to be with and a constant pleasure to work with. These two have commitment, love and steadfastness perfectly blended and I was honoured to photograph their wedding. I have no doubt they will continue to marvel at this love they have for many years to come. Congratulations you guys!!

Elliot – Newborn Photography in Winnipeg

This adorable bundle of joy was such a model for me and my camera when I came to their house for some baby photos! He slept through the entire session and even cracked a few sleep smiles for me to capture. And look at those cheeks and lips!! There were no shortage of cute angles with this little guy and I had fun pulling out the macro lens to get all those irresistibly cute baby details. His parents’ hearts are full of love for him and it wasn’t hard to see why. They make a gorgeous little family and it was such a pleasure taking these photos for them.

Archer – Newborn Photography in Winnipeg

Baby Archer was born into a wonderful family and being the third born means that he got a pretty awesome set of older siblings. I had fun coming into their home to photograph the little guy and also getting some shots of the family together with this newest addition. Archer was quite the social butterfly! For a little newborn, he stayed awake almost the entire time I was there, but we did manage to get a few sleeping photos. Some of the sweetest moments were when his older siblings held him, it was so adorable! Archer is surrounded with love and it was such a pleasure capturing all of it.

Baby Madelyn

Lisa booked me for a double session (maternity and baby) which meant I got to see her lovely face twice and see the amazing transformation from a baby bump to the arrival of an adorable little baby girl! Lisa and Neil were a wedding client of mine from a few years back, and following their journey up until now has been a great privilege. I say it often, but I can’t say it enough: I love being able to see these amazing moments throughout a couple’s life and taking photos of it all brings me great joy. Madelyn is an adorable little girl and it’s amazing to see how much joy she brings to their life. Congratulations Lisa & Neil!

Estée – Newborn Photography in Winnipeg

Congratulations to my sister who just had a baby this past winter! It’s been an exciting time in our family, especially since I had just given birth as well. My parents are definitely over the moon happy with the arrival of so many babies, and as an aunt, I can’t wait to watch this little one grow and turn into a lovely young lady. Lots of love to go around! Here are some of the photos we took of Estée when she was just 9 days old.

Nolan | Newborn Photography in Winnipeg

This newborn photography session was a pretty special one for me. Ten days after Nolan was born, I headed over to Jodi’s house for a beautiful lifestyle photo session with her and her adorable little family. Jodi’s not just a new (glowing) mom, but she was also my maternity photographer and one whose journey has been very similar to mine. Her and I both being a photographer and mom to two small kids, we’ve been able to not only celebrate in the many joys of family life together, but also be there for each other as photographers to document these amazing moments. I’m so grateful for the photos that Jodi provided for us, and now I was honoured to be able to provide the same for her. Here’s a handful of the images that were created on a beautiful December morning in their household. Congratulations Jodi – I look forward to our family portrait sessions coming up this summer!

Preserving Wedding Photos

I cannot stress how important it is to have a plan for your digital photos after the wedding day is over. It’s easy to keep your digital files tucked away in a drawer for months (even years!) after the wedding and have no clear plan as to how to use them. Some might print a few 4×6’s or even an 8×10 and frame it for their parents, but it’s certainly common to feel overwhelmed by the collection of hundreds of wedding photos. That is why I always encourage my clients to get a leather wedding album. These albums are not only gorgeous, but they’re made to last and they’re designed to showcase a select portion of the best photos from the day in a story-line layout. The pages display high grade photographic printing and are encased in a rich, leather bound cover. My clients have the option of choosing their own photos for me to design, or leave all that creative work to me so that they don’t need cull through their large photo collection. Not only are these wedding albums a perfect keepsake for the couple, but they also double as great parent gifts.

Today I’m featuring Lauren & Brent’s wedding album. They chose a beautiful brown vintage leather which I found was very fitting to contrast with their vibrant and colourful wedding photos. Absolutely lovely!%image_alt%

Elliot | 1 year old baby portraits

When I first met Erica and Will, little Elliot was just cute little baby bump – and no one had any way of measuring just how much joy and love this little guy was about to bring into the world! It’s been a pleasure photographing key moments in their life: from an engagement session, to their beautiful wedding, and now celebrating Elliot’s first birthday. This little kid is full of energy and curiosity – he loves to play and crack big smiles for the camera. My kind of kid! And thanks to mom coming prepared with a birthday cupcake, he got so messy that he needed an outfit change. Now THAT’S how you enjoy your birthday cake! Happy birthday buddy!

Estella | Baby Photography

I photographed Julie & Sean’s fun wedding a few years back, and when I heard they had a little baby girl, I was super excited to see them again: this time, with my camera ready to capture the joy and fun of family life with a 4-month old baby! We had a casual photo session at their condo and everything about it was marvelous. Julie’s parents were also there, and they are completely in love with Estella too! It was amazing to see so much love surrounding this little girl – her sweetness and loveliness does not go unnoticed. What a little darling and I count myself lucky to have taken these photos for them. Congratulations Julie and Sean – what a delightful trio you are!

Christine – Winnipeg Maternity Photography

Today’s blog post features a special little baby bump – it was my sister’s bump and inside was my second niece, that I was just a few weeks away from finally meeting! Usually I do maternity photography sessions closer to the end of the pregnancy (around 35 weeks), but this one was scheduled a little early (29 weeks) because we wanted to take advantage of the outdoor foliage before everything turned to winter. We kept the session simple and low-key, captured those quiet moments as well as those cute moments as a family with the eager big sister who had no idea how family life was about to change. 🙂 Here are a few of the photos from our session and soon I’ll be blogging the newborn photos of my beautiful little niece. Congratulations Christine – so happy to have a second niece to love and to cuddle!

and PS: thank you for braving the unbelievably cold October wind! What a dreadfully cold day this was!

Lisa & Neil: Maternity Photography in Winnipeg

It’s always a delight meeting up with my wedding clients a few years down the road when they’re about to welcome a new baby into their life. The last time I was with Lisa and Neil, I was taking photos of their exchange of vows on a super hot summer day on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. Fast forward to a beautiful fall evening and we’re in the woods taking photos of a cute baby bump: one that would soon change their life forever. Being in moments of expectancy and sharing in that excitement through photos brings me great joy. There’s nothing like it and I’m thrilled that I was able to document these moments for them. Congratulations Lisa and Neil!

Heather & Brendan: Engagement Photography

For Heather and Brendan’s engagement session, we scheduled the photos so we could take advantage of the beautiful autumn weather at a woodsy area in Winnipeg. The light, the location, the tandem bike (!) AND my couple did not disappoint! The setting was absolutely gorgeous, and as you’d expect two people madly in love with each other, they were relaxed, playful and super romantic together. The photos speak for themselves: these guys have a fun, comfortable, close love, and it was such a delight being their photographer. Their wedding is coming up soon and I can’t wait to meet up with them again for even more photos!

Levi: Newborn Photography

I drove past city limits to meet little Levi and his family and this little guy was definitely worth the trip! He totally captured my heart and won me over with those big eyes of his. I had a lovely time taking some casual photos at home with them and soaking in those precious early moments in a family’s life. Levi is surrounded with love, and it’s easy to see why it’s impossible not to fall in love with him. Absolute cutie. Congratulations you three, you have an adorable little family!

Zosia – 10 day old baby photos

Jayda and Daniel got married a couple summers ago and photographing their wedding out at a farm in rural Manitoba was something else. Everything about the day was fun, relaxed and beautiful. Soon after, I ran into them at their friends’ wedding that I was photographing and found out they were expecting! Jayda looked radiant as a pregnant lady and being able to photograph their newborn daughter was such a treat. It’s always a pleasure spending time with Jayda and Daniel and now that there was a super cute little baby girl in the mix, it made it all the more awesome! Welcome to the world, little Zosia. You are the dearest, cuddliest little baby ever!

Baby Aneleigh

Oh baby oh baby! When I drove down to Steinbach for this photo session I had no idea how CUTE this little girl was going to be in person — little baby Aneleigh! I had heard a lot about her, but meeting her in real life was such a treat. As is spending time with her lovely parents, Jerrah-Lee and Kevin. Together they make an oh-so-adorable family and it was super fun taking photos of their beautiful little baby girl. She’s such a doll! Congratulations you two, she’s a sweetheart. (and click through the gallery – you’ll see a super cute sneeze sequence!)

Ninh + Tom: Wedding at the Gates

I first met Ninh and Tom over a year ago when we got together on two separate occasions to photograph their engagement session as well as their engagement party with their large, super-fun family. I had an amazing time with them at both sessions and when their wedding plans started forming, I was all the more excited to be a part of their big day.

There were, however, a few hitches. Their wedding date ended up being confirmed for the end of September, and I had loose plans on stopping work in mid-September because I was nearing giving birth. Added to that was that their wedding day required over 14 hours of photo coverage… something I wasn’t quite sure would be possible at 8 months pregnant! But the three of us really wanted to work together, so we came up with a plan to make it work: I covered the most important parts of the photography within 7 hours and hired a third photographer to cover the rest. This day absolutely wouldn’t have been possible without my hard-working and dedicated second photographer Duncan (who worked for over 14 hours!), and the extra help of my third photographer, the lovely Rebecca (who also helped me at this other wedding). Thank you Duncan and Rebecca!!

Ninh and Tom are a couple with incredible class, elegance and charisma. They are a beautiful and strong fit together and I couldn’t have been happier to be a part of every step of the way. They not only have a tremendously supportive and loving family, but also a large group of friends who kicked it up a notch with all the celebrating at the reception. It truly was an amazing experience witnessing their union of love. Congratulations you two!!
