Well, time flies! April turned out to be a pretty busy/hectic month of shooting, editing and meeting new people. It’s been wonderful! (that and the weather). From headshots at Great West Life, to a poster campaign to promote French in schools, to photographing a children’s musical group throwing brussel sprouts at my camera (I promise those photos will come up soon), things have been pretty colourful this month! And it’s not yet over… meanwhile, I’m still teaching at PrairieView where lesson planning and marking takes up a lot of my time. Today, however, I took a group of students out shooting on location. They picked the Cathedral in St. Boniface as their location and we worked on portrait photography. By now the students are well used to taking pictures of themselves, and we enjoyed the warm weather as I helped them do some practice shooting. The PV diploma program year is drawing to an end, it’s been a great year, and I look forward to seeing their final portfolio! Here are a few of the students posing this afternoon, as well as one of their models who came for the class.

This brand new baby was only days old when I came over to their house to do a newborn photo session. The little guy is Enzo – cutest little thing ever! He cooperated well, slept for most of it, and cuddled up all cute-like, perfect for me and my lens. This is Didier and Irène’s first baby, and they looked so natural as new parents. Félicitations vous deux, il est un vrai trésor !

Here’s a bunch of pictures that are sure to brighten your day. There’s nothing like a fun morning with cute little girls – full of energy and life – running around the studio and exploring! Keeping up to them was great exercise and made for some fun pictures. Enjoy!

f/action was at it again: shooting! But this time, we were shooting each other. As photographers it’s hard being in front of the lens (ok, at least for me, I’m not sure if I can speak for Dallas, Duncan and Ailsa. They are pretty photogenic!) We did a few set ups in my studio: some with natural light and some with studio lights. We also used Duncan’s lensbaby to get some interesting shots. As you can see I have a new headshot (in my bio) — finally. We also took lots & lots (& lots) of group shots – so many that I can’t keep track! So hopefully soon our f/action website will get some updated pictures of us. Woot!
Oh, and for all of you photographers that ever need a studio space to rent for a shoot, let me know – my studio, (newly named as the Creative Exchange Studio), offers hour-by-hour or day rentals at affordable rates. It includes 4 studio lights, accessories, furniture, and of course those gorgeous huge windows for beautiful natural light. E-mail me if you’re interested: photo @ egabrielle.com.
Happy shooting everyone!!

It’s finally here, the long-awaited post of Melissa & Steve’s wedding in the Dominican Republic. Work has gotten busy in the past 3 weeks since we came back, and although I had the photos all over facebook a while ago, for some reason it took me a little longer to finally make a blog post. But here it is! I had an amazing time out there, and I’m very happy that I was able to be Melissa & Steve’s wedding photographer. Not only did the wedding photos turn out great, but our time with their family and friends was just as much a highlight of the trip. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming and at times a riot, and I’m sure that’s a testament to Melissa & Steve and the type of people they love to be surrounded by. Melissa was GORGEOUS, of course, and Steve was pretty handsome himself too! (and it was the first time ever that I was wearing the same exact shoes for a wedding shoot as the groom! ha!)
I also want to thank my husband, Chad, who did a great job as my second photographer. He’s got a great knack for those candid, spur of the moment shots that capture so much in such a brief moment! The four of us had a fun time, especially running around on the almost-deserted beach! (it was raining on and off, so we had the pleasure of having a beach virtually tourist-free!) And of course, Chad was great at holding things for me. (check out the picture at the very bottom of this post, it says it all!)
very helpful indeed!
