Sunset Family Photos at Birds Hill Park

When Helen messaged me, she expressed wanting great portraits and candid shots of her with her four boys to blow up and put on their walls at home. We immediately started planning a sunset session at Birds Hill Park, to capture a variety of landscapes: both fields and forests but also the beach.

We scheduled it on a warm July evening at exactly the right time to capture all that magical golden sun that we all get nostalgic about. (This hour changes depending on the time of year, but generally it’s about 1-2 hours before sunset).

We started taking photos on the edge of a tree line for photos in the shade, then we moved to an open grassy field before finishing the session at the beach as the sun got lower in the sky.

Here are some highlights from our fun photo shoot. Her boys were the sweetest most adorable set of brothers ever! They posed for some lovely photos with their mom, but we also gave them space to run around and have fun to get all those candid shots.

Fall Family Photos at Birds Hill Park

Late September in Manitoba – there’s nothing quite like this very short time of year to give you some of the most beautiful backdrops! This year I met up with a record amount of families to take their photos, and one spot I keep returning to is Birds Hill Park. There’s something incredibly magical about that early evening sun shining down on your photo session. For this adorable family of four, all that light just amplified their playful dynamics, cute cuddles and love moments. These are some of my favourite sessions to photograph, they make my heart so full!

Grasso Family: Manitoba Photography

Question:

How do you:

– avoid the hot muggy heat,

– get gorgeous lighting &

– get an empty beach to yourself…

Answer:

– you get up at the crack of dawn and convince your clients to start a session at 7:45am!

It’s worth it, and the Grasso family is proof! Since their oldest was a newborn, I’ve been taking their family photos almost every year and it’s always such a delight capturing their journey. They are a fun bunch and always so wonderful to spend time with!

Kastiro Family Photos at Birds Hill Park

It was such a glorious evening at Birds Hill Park with the super adorable Kastiro family! I can’t tell you how much this makes me happy, to be taking photos for my clients again. It’s been a long time coming – not just the warm weather, but the ability to be with my clients to capture these memories. Being shut down earlier this Spring really put things into perspective, and now I have a much deeper appreciation for my ability to work as a photographer and every single chance I get to document the beauty of family with storytelling photography. There’s nothing more precious.

Francine & Aron: Family Photography in Winnipeg

Francine has been a dear friend of mine for several years with our friendship dating back to the early 2000’s before photography was even a big thing in my life. However, when I first switched to digital photography in 2005, she was one of the first to be in my photos when I started dabbling in portrait photography. Always happy to be a part of my shoots, Francine was so much fun to work with and to photograph. And as my photography career took off, she never stopped being in my photos. From styled portrait shoots, to extended family photos, to her own engagement and wedding photography, then on to newborn photos and now to her own family photos, she’s been a staple in my catalog of photos over the years, and I love it! This week we scheduled family photos to finally capture their newest (and incredibly cute) addition: sweet little Florence. It was a huge pleasure spending an hour with them, running around, catching candid moments and funny poses from their little guy who’s full of personality and fun energy! These four have a beautiful dynamic together and seeing them together makes my heart full. I’m so very honoured to continue taking photos for them and I’m thankful for every moment I get to spend with them. Je vous aime gros! ❤️
