I met up with this crew of three + 1 at the park for some fun family portraits as they journey closer to their new phase of family life, with 2 little boys! With the sunset glow and this family’s love abounding, we got tons of fun & playful photos, candid shots and of course some of the cute belly bump. Having photographed their wedding and previous maternity & newborn sessions, I’m looking all the more forward to the next maternity session at home, only a few weeks away. Here’s a preview from our session:

Mara & Stefan received their wedding photo album this past week, and what a beauty it is! Measuring 12″ x 12″, leather bound in a rich cream colour and holding 28 pages with 92 photos, this album was created with care & intention. Mara & Stefan spent a lot of time carefully choosing every single photo that went into this album, and after receiving their list of photos, I presented them with a few different layout options. The layout they approved completes the album in a way that not only showcases their favourite photos but also tells the full story of their day. I’m overjoyed to have finally handed over this album to them, exactly a year after their wedding! Lots of love was poured into this album and now they get to display their memories forever. Love it!

I’ve been pretty lucky to have Harper become a familiar face at all my styled mini sessions in the last few years. And even if it’s only been a few months since the last mini sessions, I can still count on seeing that adorable little face show up for yet another mini session! The fun thing this summer was that we returned to the same park where we first met at her mini session when she was just a baby. She’s such a ray of sunshine, full of character and cuteness. She’s got the perfect mix of sweetness with a spunky personality and I just love love love taking her photos. Today I’m finishing up editing her gallery and I just had to share a few of them here!

I can’t tell you how much I loved photographing Kim & Lucas’ wedding! Everything they had planned for their day, including the locations, made for such an unforgettable wedding. Clear Lake is near and dear to these two, and having a cabin there, it only made sense to hold their wedding there. Their outdoor ceremony was absolutely beautiful, and they had the best ceremony exit ever: on a beautiful boat across the lake! Their wedding party was a ton of fun, and also included their dog, and with a champagne toast in the woods, everything that was planned was done with fun in mind. Working with them was a blast and being there definitely was a highlight of my summer. Congratulations you two!!

I met up with Emma and Ryan at St. Vital park on such a beautiful Spring evening and what perfect light we had to capture their togetherness! These two are such sweethearts – their love is strong and so genuine, and they know how to have fun so easily together. The highlight of the evening was when they took me to the exact spot where Ryan had proposed to Emma – in the heart of the flower garden in the park. What a beautiful spot that now holds so much meaning for these two! Congratulations guys, it was so much fun capturing these shots for you!

Last year I drove out to Brandon for Kylie and Cam’s engagement photos, and it ended up being such a fun session to photograph! Their chemistry and zest for life comes through in all their interactions and the true love that they share was clearly evident throughout the entire time. Fast-forward to this year, and their wedding in June encapsulated all of that plus so much more! The love they share was celebrated with such earnestness by all the friends and family that were present at their ceremony and reception. Seeing how nervous Kylie was before the first look and how all her anxiety just melted away as soon as she saw Cam – priceless! Their wedding party was a ton of fun and together the entire day was such a pleasure to witness and to document. Kylie & Cam – you guys are true gems, I’m so happy to have celebrated with you and captured all these memories. Congratulations!
(and check out the wind we had on that day – it was the strongest I had ever experienced at a wedding!)

The last time I saw this family was for Noah’s newborn photos, so it was extra special to come back again to their house to photograph their second addition, sweet little Nao! We recreated some of the same photos we had taken with their first born son, and then added a few more portraits outdoors in the beautiful sun. This family of 4 is so adorable and being there to capture these beautiful moments in their growing family was such a privilege. Congratulations you guys!

These guys had a lot of milestones last month and to celebrate all these special occasions, Corinne planned a family portrait session for the four of them this July. A wedding anniversary, a high-school graduation and a sweet 16 – wow! I couldn’t be happier to take these photos with them and to celebrate with them. Here’s a preview from our lovely evening at the English Garden at Assiniboine Park.

Jen and Wayne just got engaged and already they’ve made lots of great plans for the months to come – a beautiful and intimate wedding celebration this winter, and then just a couple of weeks ago, a fun urban engagement session in the heart of Winnipeg’s Exchange District. Having already met them a year ago at Wayne’s brother’s wedding, it was fun to re-connect and give them their turn at being in front of the camera. It didn’t take long to break the ice with these two, and as much as they say that they’re not super comfortable in front of the camera (like me!), it was super easy to get them to open up and have fun together without thinking too much about the camera in their face. We explored the back streets of the Exchange and took lots of shots. They are such an easy-going and lovely couple – it was a pleasure spending the evening with them and it got me all the more excited to photograph their wedding! Can’t wait!

Summertime is all about ice cream cones, bubbles, smelling fresh flowers and running in the grass bare foot! Winnipeg’s been experiencing such a beautiful summer so I decided it would be a great idea to put together another edition of my styled mini photo sessions for kids, this time outdoors to capture all of that summery goodness we all love! I had the ever amazing Emily of Feast & Festivities style the set and her work reflected exactly the vision I had in mind. She has a way of setting up a scene that promotes such fun & candid moments of kids at play. It was so fun taking all these photos, and as always, the time flies by so fast! But not before thousands of frames of photos were shot on both my cameras. I pulled out a few highlights from last night’s shoot to showcase below. Soon the families will get access to their private proofing galleries to view their images and make their selections. Can’t wait to share more!

Renelle and Miguel are celebrating their 10 year wedding anniversary this summer so they decided to gift themselves a family photo session to commemorate the big milestone. It was such a beautiful morning at King’s Park, and such a pleasure to meet them all! I was happy to be able to hang out with these guys and speak French together, especially knowing that their kids don’t even speak any English yet. They were so cute and totally reminded me of my own kids. Such cuties!
The kids had fun running throughout the park, chasing frogs, climbing trees and smelling the flowers. Apparently after the session, the kids told their parents that the shoot was fun and “it’s like playing, but we’re taking photos!”. Yes, exactly that! Even for me! 🙂 Here’s a preview from the hour we spent together:

A year ago I met Griffin at his newborn photo session when he was just a wee little guy, and yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing him again, this time, all grown up! We went to his great-aunt’s amazing (and huge) backyard and got some great photos of him with balloons and of course, a cake to smash. Both sets of grandparents were there and also got a chance to jump into some of the photos. This guy is well-loved and oh-so cute! He was all smiles, and got into the cake like a true birthday boy should! Happy birthday Griffin!

Jodi is a good friend of mine who also happens to be a talented photographer who has been taking my family’s photos for years now, as I have been for them. This year we decided to have fun with our photo session swap, and instead of doing it on separate days, we scheduled them both for the same evening. We drove up to Grand Beach together with our husbands and kiddos to take turns photographing each other’s families. It was a hot summer evening, the weather forecast was thankfully wrong (no hail, thundershowers or tornado in sight, as was forecasted earlier that day!) and we had a blast!
Watching Jodi’s kids grow up has been such a treat for me – they are the cutest and always so fun to run around with for photos. The evening ended off with all 5 of our kids running into the lake, swimming in their clothes, and having fun until sun down. Such good memories were created! Here’s a preview of Jodi’s family photos from our lovely evening out at the beach.

Yesterday I had the chance to meet up with Emily & Lance for their engagement session in Winnipeg. We started with some urban portraits and finished up at one of my favourite places to catch that big open sky at sunset. Wally, their cute dog, tagged along and was so fun to photograph! We also got to see some huge pelicans hanging out in the evening sun and climbed a big hill to watch the sun dip below the horizon. These two have a comfortable and effortless love and capturing these images for them brought me great joy. I cannot wait for their PineRidge Hollow wedding later this summer!

With their love for Winnipeg architecture in mind, Anna & Steve picked out some of their favourite spots for their engagement photos last night, and thanks to the golden sun and their lovely dynamic, everything looked absolutely beautiful! I’m so happy to have connected with these two last year and all the more excited for their wedding in Winnipeg next summer. They’ve been engaged for a couple of years now, and experienced a lot of long-distance in their journey together, so tying the knot will definitely mark a significant point in their relationship. I’m honoured to have been asked to be their photographer and so thankful for the trust they give me. Here’s a preview of their engagement collection:

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Lori & Matt’s growing family for the past few years, and every session is always so much fun to capture! Love love love these 4 people! Yesterday we were capturing a big milestone for Ivy, marking her 1st birthday. Happy birthday kiddo!

These two have theatre in their blood and seeing as engagement photos should be an expression of their love and personalities, it was only fitting to start the first half of their session at Winnipeg’s iconic Park Theatre in South Osborne. With their names on the marquee and them dressed to the nines, this session was an absolute delight to photograph! After a wardrobe change, we changed gears and headed to a green space nearby to capture a few more outdoorsy portraits, taking in the beautiful Spring day and glowing sun. These guys were a breeze to take photos of – so comfortable with each other and completely in tune. Not to mention a whole lot of fun to spend a couple of hours with. I’m truly honoured to have been invited into their story and I can’t wait to document their big day next year! Congratulations Robyn & Bernie!

In June of last year, I had the immense pleasure of being present at Jen & Devin’s wedding to photograph the day.
I had met them a year earlier and had had such a great time taking their engagement photos at the lake that I could not wait to be their wedding photographer. The day was truly memorable and heart-warming, and also full of personality and fun! It’s hard to sum up in words, but Jen and Devin put together a few of their thoughts from their day to share:
“Our experience with Gabrielle and Duncan was so relaxing and comfortable. They were always moving and willing to get different and candid shots. Their personalities kept everyone at ease and made being in front of the camera a blast! They helped keep things moving in a very hectic day. Their amazing work resulted in the most cherished photos in our home. They are absolutely stunning!”
Here’s a look at their day in photos, including more of their thoughts and memories from their day:

“The most memorable part of our day was definitely our ceremony. The rain held off long enough to allow us to focus on each other and experience the moment that was 8 years in the making. It was an incredible moment to have all of our loved ones there in one place. But we just can’t believe it rained 10 minutes after the ceremony had finished!”

“The best surprise of the day was how much love there was in one place. The love and energy in the air was palpable, and we felt truly blessed to have had so many people there who wholeheartedly support and care about us. It was a very humbling feeling.”

“It’s impossible to pick just one favourite photo! But I think if we reeeeeally had to choose, we’d choose the one of us walking arm in arm, smiling the widest smiles during our one on one session in birds hill. Our smiles are the most genuine and relaxed. They really captured our love and excitement about the day. ”

“Our intention in the day was simple: we wanted it to be us. We wanted it to be relaxed, fun, and rustic. We tried to make our guests feel at home and have fun being with one another. I think our lawn games, smores bonfire, and poutine late night snack did just that! Pineridge Hollow is such a beautiful venue that holds beauty on its own merit, so it’s grounds fit our rustic feel wonderfully.”

Almost 7 years ago I had the honour of being Kristin and Jonathan’s wedding photographer, and fast-forward to today, they are a full and happy family with 3 adorable kiddos! I had fun taking their photos this morning and celebrating their newest addition: 10-day-old Jordan. His older brother and sister had so many cuddles and kisses to shower him with and the sibling shots we got are just so priceless. Here is a preview from our newborn family portrait session:

Sometimes life gets busy and you forget that time flies, your kid is growing up and you haven’t updated your family photos in a long time! This was the case for Melinda and Scott – being both hard workers in creative industries and also spending time raising a kid, they realized it had been forever since they had gotten some updated family photos. Of course, I was more than happy to capture their adorable little family unit for them and capture these affectionate moments together. We kept it short and sweet, super casual and candid and managed to get a few posed shots out of Asher too. What a cutie that kid! Here are some highlights from our shoot:

Anna and Steve are tying the knot later this summer, but before the snow melted we made sure to book some time to head out to Beaudry Provincial Park to take some engagement photos. Not only is this a beautiful natural park in a really quiet wooded area just outside of Winnipeg, but it’s also the very location where Steve had proposed to Anna. We hiked through the trails, took some photos and had a great time enjoying the sunny winter day and having great conversations. These two are so cute together and also love to have fun together – can’t wait for their wedding day!

The last time I took photos for Jacqueline and Martin they only had one kid and she was just a baby. Now their family has grown with 3 adorable kids and a baby on the way – all in just over 4 years! Their smiles and zest for life are contagious and I had so much fun following them around to take these candid and somewhat posed family photos for them last week. What a lovely snapshot of such a crazy beautiful time of life – our time flew by and I couldn’t believe how much energy these kids had for photos! Merci Jacqueline et Martin pour la belle séance de photos, c’était un vrai plaisir de vous capturer lors de votre temps à Winnipeg!

It was mid-December and an extreme cold warning had been issued by the weather network – we knew we’d be in for a super cold wedding day but that didn’t stop any of us from fully celebrating with Madison and Matthew on their beautiful wedding day! Yes, we had to cancel all of our outdoor photo plans (except for a quick 2 minute stop outside the Legislative Building!), but nothing else was as warm and romantic as these two lovebirds tying the knot together. Click here to view the slideshow I made for them.

I have to admit, taking photos outside in the cold in a time as unforgiving as our winter in Winnipeg is never anything easy, but I do LOVE my winter photo sessions. There’s something about going out there in the cold, the white, and the quiet of the season. Yes, extra energy and attention is needed, but the results are always so magical. Even on a dark, foggy and gloomy day like the one we had for Ashley and Kyle’s engagement session. We started with a few fun shots at the Forks, but then did most of our photos at Assiniboine Forest. The birch trees seem to stretch on forever and the beauty of the forest is nothing like it.
And these two. Where do I start. They are absolutely lovely to photograph – their love is such a treasure and seeing them together was so heartwarming. Their decision to choose forever together is clear to see that it’s a good one, and it was such an honour to capture it. Here’s a handful of the many images we captured while out in the beautiful wintery landscape that we are lucky to find in our great city!

Breean and Matt just welcomed their first baby into their beautiful home and what a privilege it was to meet her and to photograph all her cuteness! Being only a week old, she was still so tiny and irresistibly cute, and she gave us so many adorable sleep smiles. Charley definitely lights up their world and seeing how beautiful she fits into this family, I had nothing but joy and excitement for the amazing journey they have just begun together. Here’s a little sneak peek at their newborn session in their home last week!

Jessica and Mike got married on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon in July and every location they chose added so much to the beauty and meaning of their day. It was a true honour to create these images for them all the while documenting the story of their day unfolding before us. The joy and connection they share is so sweet to watch and seeing them so happy was definitely the highlight of the day, not only for me but I’m sure for all their guests too! They kept their day simple, elegant and truly meaningful. Starting with getting ready photos at the historic Fort Garry Hotel, followed by a lovely ceremony at the gorgeous Westminster Church, then on to the Exchange District and City Hall for some wedding portraits, and ending off the wedding celebrations with a super fun reception at St. Charles Country Club. From start to finish, this wedding day was a perfect reflection of these two! Here are some highlights… but make sure you scroll down to the end to see an adorable photo of Jessica dancing with her grandfather!

Well, it’s that time of year again, when the days are so long (yet the sun’s presence is so short), and we’re all tired of the cold and of being cooped up! If you’re in Winnipeg, you know the feeling. Cabin fever. But, I love this time of year because this is when I start planning for my annual Spring mini sessions, and this year I’m excited to partner up with Emily of Feast and Festivities. She’s going to be styling a great scene and will include some great decor pieces from Kate + Norah Co.’s shop. It’s going to be such a great collaboration of creative women, can’t wait!
Mini sessions are short, so for kids, it’s perfect. We’re setting up in one of Winnipeg’s most iconic heritage buildings in the Exchange District where the light and space in there always feels absolutely wonderful for portraits.
To book a spot, send me an e-mail: photo@egabrielle.com
It’s $150 + taxes, includes a 15-minute session, a proofing gallery and 5 high-res edited jpgs of your choice. You also have the option of ordering more photos after the session. It’s open to kids 6 months old and up. Siblings can be included at no additional cost.
The spots are being scooped up faster this year than they have in previous years, so please contact me sooner than later if you’re interested!

As 2016 comes to a close, I look back on all my photo sessions from the past year with joy and a thankful heart. 2016 was my busiest year since I started 9 years ago, and all the hard work was 100% worth it for being able to capture all these moments of love and togetherness. To everyone who asked me to photograph them: thank you from the bottom of my heart, your stories are inspiring and they continue to deepen my love for photography! This is just a small handful of highlights, wish I could include each and every shoot from 2016!
Looking forward to all that 2017 has to offer – happy new year everyone!

I first met Ahlea and Jason earlier this year to chat about their wedding, and I instantly found a connection with them. Such a warm, down-to-earth and lovely couple, I was absolutely thrilled to be their wedding photographer! In the weeks leading to their wedding, the weather got a little cooler and the leaves started changing colours, but their day at PineRidge Hollow was absolutely beautiful. Although it rained exactly during the time they had planned for their outdoor ceremony, it didn’t put a damper on the day. They quickly shifted things indoors, and we still had plenty of time before and after for wedding portraits outside at PineRidge Hollow and also inside Birds Hill Park. I’m such a big fan of this venue – I’ve been there for weddings in the Spring, Summer and Fall, and it never disappoints!
Ahlea and Jason radiate love, and it was such a delight being there to capture the big moments as well as the candid moments that added personality to their day. It was especially fun having their two dogs join us for some portraits! Surrounded by their closest family and friends, these two clearly enjoyed every moment of their day and I couldn’t have been more happy to celebrate with them. Congrats you two!
