Anna & Stephen: Wedding Photography in Winnipeg
This past weekend I had the great pleasure of photographing Anna & Stephen’s gorgeous wedding at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg. Here’s a sneak peek from their day!

What a fun morning at the park with this crew! The Demers family is so adorable, and these kiddos were so much fun to hang out with. Since they’re more comfortable speaking in French, I had an instant connection with these kiddos and enjoyed some long and lively conversations with them, met all their stuffed animals and had such a blast taking their photos! These guys know how to have fun together and they clearly have a strong loving bond as a family. Here’s a preview of our time at Lagimodière-Gaboury Park:

8 years ago I was on the beaches of Punta Cana taking their wedding photos… and today I’m taking photos of their incredibly CUTE daughter. Soooo much fun with these 3 who are dear friends of mine. I can’t even handle Clara’s cuteness!

What a way to celebrate their mom’s big birthday milestone yesterday with family flying in to Winnipeg to gather for a dinner that evening. But first, they coordinated everyone’s schedules in order to take some family photos at the Legislative Building, and what fun it was to meet everyone and to photograph them all! We started indoors and then ventured out to the fountain in the back of the building where we were surrounded by amazingly fragrant lilac trees. These guys were a ton of fun and I’m so glad we were able to capture this beautiful time in their family’s journey!

It was such a pleasure to meet sweet little Sadie yesterday! We did her newborn session at home, and it was so fun to capture this growing family including so many adorable moments between her big sister and her. It’s hard to believe that only 18 months ago I was taking photos of her big sister at her newborn session – she sure has changed, and she’s become such an independent and caring little girl, perfect for her little sister to grow up together with!

Almost 13 years ago I photographed my friend’s engagement session… on FILM. I had very little photography training & experience (and it showed in the photos!) but it was still a fun shoot. Fast forward to today, and things sure have changed for me AND for them. Look at their adorable little family! What a pleasure it was to meet up again and to take their photos. These kiddos were so fun to hang out with!

What joy it was to meet this adorable family and to take their photos! They were in Winnipeg celebrating their wedding anniversary and as part of their day, they decided to include a family photo session to mark the occasion. These kids were so so sweet, so full of smiles, energy and willingness to be in all these photos, I loved it! The kids don’t understand English, yet that wasn’t even a barrier – we communicated through smiles & fun and connected through the experience of them being photographed! Here’s a preview from our time at CMU and then at Assiniboine Forest:

I met up with Veronica and Matt at Make Coffee last summer to talk about their dreams and ideas for their wedding day and to make plans for their engagement photography. Seeing them together with hearts in their eyes was so adorable, and it was a great prelude to what would come next: a romantic sunset engagement session at Birds Hill Park with a glowing sun and champagne flutes! Only a few short weeks later, they got married in the Leo Mol Garden, and once again, it was a beautiful romantic gathering. Here’s a preview from our time at Birds Hill Park:

Yesterday I met this adorable crew at St. Vital Park for a family photo session. Thankful for the recent much-needed rain, the setting was green and lush, finally! In the middle of their busy family schedule and the May long weekend, they made the time to update their family photos, and they pulled it off perfectly! They hadn’t had photos taken in 8 years, so being able to capture their family was such a joy. They were so wonderful to work with and such a delight to photograph. Here’s a preview!

I met Julia and Simeon earlier this year and what a treat it was to learn more about their love story, how they met and their big plans for tying the knot later this season. They’re such lovely people and together they are joining their love and life and I couldn’t be more honoured to photograph their journey. Yesterday we met up in Royalwood where they had their first date: walking on the trails inside Bois-des-Esprits. We even found the exact bench where they sat on the moment Julia knew that he was going to be her forever one. The blossoms are now out, and even though Winnipeg is in desperate need of some rain, we still found pockets of greenery and beautiful flowering trees to compliment the heart of this session. Just a few more weeks before they their wedding day. Can’t wait!

Emily & Lance were surrounded by family, friends and a ton of love when they tied the knot at PineRidge Hollow last August. It was a beautifully sunny day and every detail & thought put into the wedding came together absolutely perfectly! Seeing how these two are so happy together was really heart-warming, and also seeing the closeness & fun they have with their friends was an added dynamic to their personalized day. I never get tired of being at PineRidge Hollow for weddings, such a gorgeous setting, plus they have the cutest little pig that took a stroll through the yard during the cocktail hour! (now that’s a fun wedding crasher!)
Here’s a preview from their day, starting with getting ready photos in the city, followed by wedding party photos in Birds Hill Park, a lovely ceremony inside PineRidge Hollow’s yard and a LIVELY evening reception inside the tent. That was a good day! Here’s a preview:

When is the best time of day for outdoor engagement photos? What are ideas for engagement sessions that won’t feel too posed, “put together” or awkward? Sometimes my clients don’t know to ask those questions, but I’ll be the first to dive right into those important details that are the foundation for my favourite photo shoots. That golden evening light, with just a few (or zero!) clouds… A casual walk at the park with your pet with not much on the agenda except impromptu conversations and watching the sun set…

With Chloé and Scott we originally had postponed their engagement session because our initial shoot date had a very boring overcast sky. Knowing that these two were totally ok to postpone their session until we had a day with a better sky & sun made me so happy. I also knew that Scott’s idea of a good time does NOT involve being in front of the camera, so making sure to prove his expectations wrong included me leading this session into a casual & stress-free walk in the park (literally) with their dog.

And the results were great! A lot of the photos were taken in mid-walk, in mid-conversation and showcased their natural sides. Yes, being followed by a photographer isn’t the most relaxing thing in the world for some people (and I get that!) but turning this into a casual date and capturing some sweet authentic moments is what makes me love photographing couples so much. It was also my first time meeting Scott and seeing how these two know how to have fun together and are playful, made me all the more excited to photograph their wedding. Here’s a preview from our lovely summer evening at HarbourView park. It was such a fun and beautiful evening!

Baby #2 for Stéphanie & Michel has arrived and I was so excited to drive down to their beautiful sun-filled rural home to capture this newest little addition to their family. The last time I saw these guys was at my summer mini sessions when Stéphanie requested a “pregnancy announcement” photo of her daughter reading a big sister book. It was the very early stages of Téo’s arrival and I was so excited to see their family continue to grow! Here’s a preview of my morning with them, some sweet moments with his big sister and of course lots of cute faces from this little man. Look at that hair! He’s so adorable and is so well surrounded with lots of love in his family.

Half a year ago, Lisa & Lyle’s second boy turned one, but life got busy and they never got a chance to do his first birthday cake smash. Shortly after that, they got the exciting news that they were expecting twin girls in the Spring! March rolled around and we finally got the time to meet up and capture this exciting phase in their family’s life. So we combined their maternity session with a family session and a 1st birthday cake smash (at 18 months old, because better late than never, right?!). We met up at CMU’s new building that houses Folio Cafe and we captured all of their fun & energetic family dynamics. The boys loved the pedestrian tunnel (and so do I for all that gorgeous light, clean lines & depth) and they enjoyed a doughnut treat at the end. It’s been so much fun to follow along their life journey ever since their engagement photo session with me in 2009, to now, with twin newborn photos just around the corner. Can’t wait to continue photographing this beautiful journey they’re on!

Aly and Mario just got engaged last month so in the past few weeks we’ve been chatting about how to plan for their engagement photos. After discussing several different locations, we settled on an early morning coffee date at Cibo Waterfront Cafe and then some walking around Winnipeg’s Exchange District. The light was beautiful, the air was a bit cool, and these two lovebirds were all warmth & closeness! Although we’ve never met before, we had the francophone connection and conversation just flowed. These two were naturals in front of the camera and so easy to guide from one location to another. I’m so glad the sun was bright and that they trusted me with all the set ups we did. It was a blast!

Little Muzette was only 4 days old when I came over to her home this morning to photograph her with her sisters and parents. What a little cutie! Once wrapped up snuggly, she stayed warm and happy for the entire 2-hour session and gave us some cute smiles, open curious eyes and lots of cozy sleeping photos. Her sisters are thrilled to have a new “bébé” in the house and her parents are over the moon happy with her arrival. What an adorable little family. Félicitations Manon et Nicholas!

It’s this time of year again – time for Spring mini sessions for kids! I’m currently in the planning process to host another round of styled mini photo sessions scheduled to take place at a Winnipeg photo studio on a Saturday in April. I should have more details soon!

Can’t wait to see what Emily will do with this Spring’s styled scene!

I first met Shawna & Brad a few years ago when we did a fun “day in the life of” photo session for their then family of 4. Taking candid photos of real life with their two kiddos was such a fun experience, and since then I’ve had the pleasure of doing two newborn sessions for them as they’ve been adding to their beautiful family. This week it was for 4-day-old Brady, likely my youngest client ever, and what a joy it was to see them again with their house so full of life! Four kids, wow! There’s so much laughter, crazy antics and affection for each other, and seeing how chill and go-with-the flow they are as parents, it’s no wonder they can pull it off without sweating the small stuff. How wonderful it was to take these photos for them – a beautiful souvenir of a real whirlwind phase of their life – it may be crazy and a little overwhelming at times, but their love for each other is definitely keeping them afloat! Love these guys!

Wow – looking back at 2017 and seeing all these familiar photos takes me back to all the love, the joy, the laughter and the fun moments that I had the pleasure of witnessing and documenting – and once again, I’m filled with gratitude. Thank you to everyone who went out of their way to hire me to capture their life’s most treasured moments. To preserve these stories and these moments in time for you have been my greatest joy since starting out in photography. I love having this for my own family and I’m so happy that you all treasure photography as much as I do! Below are some random highlights from the past year. I wish I could include every single shoot that I did last year, but I just can’t! Here’s to 2018 and all the wonderful moments that are about to come and that I’m so excited to photograph!

It was a beautiful October afternoon when I met up with Sitaara and her parents at one of my favourite parks in St. Boniface. She just turned one and we celebrated this huge milestone with some fun family photos out in nature, and finished off with a tasty cake smash at the end! Sitaara is a sweet, shy and adorable little girl – she was a bit reserved at first, but soon warmed up and gave me so many beautiful smiles and candid moments with her parents. She is well loved and so full of brightness – happy birthday little lady!

Winnipeg got its first big snowfall of the year today, and so did my mini sessions indoors! But lucky for these kids, we were warm and cozy inside the studio, for the third round of styled mini photo sessions this year. This time, we’re capping off the year with the cutest, coziest winter scenes to get in the mood for the Christmas holidays! Emily Janzen of Feast & Festivities did a fantastic job at styling both scenes and providing fun props for the kids to enjoy. I think the hit today was the fake snow and the marshmallows. These mini sessions are always so much fun!
If you’d like to take part in the next styled mini sessions, make sure to follow me on Facebook and Instagram – that’s where I post the latest news and updates. These mini sessions are such a hit, and we plan on doing another 2 or 3 sessions in 2018 again. See you then!

Monika & Chris are such a darling couple – with so much zest for life and a comfortable love that is fully present whenever the two are together. It was a beautiful August day and having chosen FortWhyte Alive for their wedding ceremony and reception, it fit perfectly as the backdrop to their wedding day story. With their friends and family surrounding them, the celebrations were heart-felt and meaningful, and the day included a traditional Polish vodka & bread ceremony, absolutely beautiful vows and fun outdoor games into the evening that also included s’mores by a campfire. It was such a joy to spend the day with these two and to capture these memories for them!

On Saturday November 4th, I’ll be hosting another round of mini photo sessions for kids, this time with a wintery theme! I’ve teamed up with Feast & Festivities once again to dream up of this season’s concept and to style a couple different scenes for the kids to play in. The two scenes will include fake snow to play with, a pile of gift boxes to stack and hot chocolate to savour. The photos will be playful and candid – the goal is to capture your kids having fun and being their natural selves. To book your spot, e-mail me at photo@egabrielle.com – a limited amount of spots are left! They are $175 + taxes and includes a proofing gallery and 5 high-res edited images of your choice. See you on the 4th!

Sarah and I first became friends in photography school several years ago, and since that time, our families have become good friends, bonding over our love of the arts and music & all things kid-related. It’s been such a joy to see her family grow into the beautiful & energetic crew that they are today! There is so much love, talent and adventure in their family, and it’s always so much fun taking their family photos.
This year, the vision for their session was to be captured in Birds Hill Park in the middle of the Autumn season. Although juggling their family’s schedule can be a bit challenging at times, we finally found time to meet up at the park for what was probably the best day of the season! It was almost 20 degrees and the sun was a perfect glow and the colours in the trees were at a perfect stage. The kiddos gave me some adorable smiles and also let loose with all their energy and antics – I loved it!

From the moment I met Emma and Ryan a year ago, I instantly connected with how earnest and intentional their love was for one another. They are such adorable human beings and it’s evident how strong of a partnership they have together. It was such an honour to be present at their wedding to capture the story of their day!
Although it was a really hot summer day, the colours were beautiful and everyone surrounded them with so much love and support. With their lovely ceremony in a beautiful A-frame church on Wellington Crescent to their gorgeous reception at St. Charles Country Club, the day reflected the importance they put on the value of family, friends and of their union.
You have to scroll down and check out these super cute custom-made M&M candies they had as party gifts for their wedding guests – look what they printed right on them!
Congratulations to the both of you, it was a joy to celebrate with you!

I met up with this crew of three + 1 at the park for some fun family portraits as they journey closer to their new phase of family life, with 2 little boys! With the sunset glow and this family’s love abounding, we got tons of fun & playful photos, candid shots and of course some of the cute belly bump. Having photographed their wedding and previous maternity & newborn sessions, I’m looking all the more forward to the next maternity session at home, only a few weeks away. Here’s a preview from our session:

Mara & Stefan received their wedding photo album this past week, and what a beauty it is! Measuring 12″ x 12″, leather bound in a rich cream colour and holding 28 pages with 92 photos, this album was created with care & intention. Mara & Stefan spent a lot of time carefully choosing every single photo that went into this album, and after receiving their list of photos, I presented them with a few different layout options. The layout they approved completes the album in a way that not only showcases their favourite photos but also tells the full story of their day. I’m overjoyed to have finally handed over this album to them, exactly a year after their wedding! Lots of love was poured into this album and now they get to display their memories forever. Love it!

I’ve been pretty lucky to have Harper become a familiar face at all my styled mini sessions in the last few years. And even if it’s only been a few months since the last mini sessions, I can still count on seeing that adorable little face show up for yet another mini session! The fun thing this summer was that we returned to the same park where we first met at her mini session when she was just a baby. She’s such a ray of sunshine, full of character and cuteness. She’s got the perfect mix of sweetness with a spunky personality and I just love love love taking her photos. Today I’m finishing up editing her gallery and I just had to share a few of them here!
(styling by Feast & Festivities)

Emily & Lance’s engagement session is now published as a slideshow and you can view it here. Enjoy!
I can’t tell you how much I loved photographing Kim & Lucas’ wedding! Everything they had planned for their day, including the locations, made for such an unforgettable wedding. Clear Lake is near and dear to these two, and having a cabin there, it only made sense to hold their wedding there. Their outdoor ceremony was absolutely beautiful, and they had the best ceremony exit ever: on a beautiful boat across the lake! Their wedding party was a ton of fun, and also included their dog, and with a champagne toast in the woods, everything that was planned was done with fun in mind. Working with them was a blast and being there definitely was a highlight of my summer. Congratulations you two!!
